On Wednesday, April 12, 2017, the UNI Solar Boat Club had the opportunity to join the Waterloo Technical Society for their monthly meeting at the Clarion Inn in Cedar falls, IA. While there, the Solar Boat Club gave a presentation on the status of their boat, as well as explained the boat's interworking. The club members from Electrical Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Technology programs had the chance to explain the details while answering questions asked by engineers working at John Deere and other companies. It was an excellent time of socialization, and the Solar Boat Club is grateful for the interest, support, and advice of the members of the Waterloo Technical Society.
Solar Boat Club is a student organization who's mission is to acquaint UNI students with the present and future scopes of renewable energy, promote interest in science, technology, and education, and provide students an opportunity to apply energy efficiency and conservation theory to a practical project in a team environment. The team joins the Solar Splash, the World Championship of intercollegiate Solar/Electric boating, every year. The team prepares during the academic year and competes in June.
